Benefitting Streams, Fish and Water Quality
Kitsap County Public Works implements a wide variety of restoration projects to:
- Upgrade older stormwater ponds to function in more natural ways
- Restore streams to improve fish habitat and salmon spawning
- Complete community retrofit and watershed enhancement projects and improve habitat and water quality
- Replace aging infrastructure with green stormwater systems such as rain gardens, sand filters, tree filter boxes, permeable paving and other improvements
Stormwater retrofit planning was recently completed for several communities. These plans provide a roadmap for the locations and costs to build new green stormwater systems. Look for a potential project in your community:
